Imphal, November 20 2015 : A combined team of Imphal West district police and 25 Assam Rifles arrested two top leaders and three cadres of Re-unification Kuki army (RUKA/KNA-I ) yesterday.

According to a reliable information, a combined security team under the supervision of Th Vikramjit, Additional SP (Operation), Imphal West led by Inspector P Sanjoy, Officer In-Charge, Imphal West carried out operation at Khurkhul PHC area and arrested two leaders of Re-unification Kuki army (RUKA)/KNA (I) .

The individuals have been identified as Thangminlen Haokip alias Benny Haokip alias Alex kuki alias Dougin Haokip (30) s/o Thongmang Haokip of Molphei village, Chapikarong, Chandel district�said to be the S/S C-in-C of RUKA/KNA(I); Holkholet Haokip alias Lenin (39) s/o Ngamdem Haokip of Tujang village, Kangpokpi Sadar Hills�said to be the S/S defence secretary; MK Lunglin Chothe alias Momo (20) s/o Devan Chothe of Ziontlang, Chandel district; Lungkhomang alias Mangneo Touthang (24) s/o Onlhun Touthang of Denglen village, Saikul subdivision, Senapati district staying at present at New Checkon and Nengjahat Touthang (23) w/o Thangboi Touthang of New Checkon, Imphal East.

Two pistols, five mobile handsets, one laptop, one printer, a demand letter and one Maruti van were recovered from them, the source said.

Meanwhile, a team of Imphal East district police commando arrested one active cadre of PREPAK while conducting frisking and checking in Ahallup area on Nov 17 .

According to a statement issued by the PRO of Police Dept, the arrested individual has been identified as Maibam Abung Singh alias Khoimei (36) s/o (L) M Janaki of Soibam Leikai Khalabung Leirak.

Investigation revealed that he was involved in transportation of arms and explosive from different places and also extorted money from general public, private firms, contractors, Govt offices etc for raising party fund.

Incriminating articles were seized from his possession.

A case has been registered at Heingang PS and investigation is going on.

At the same time, a team of Imphal East district police commando arrested one active member of PREPAK (Pro) while conducting search operation on Nov 18 .

The statement said that the man, namely, Joysangkar alias Loyumba alias Khoungang (28) s/o N Inaocha, was arrested from his residence located at Lairikyengbam Makha Leikai.

A case has been registered at Lamphel PS.

In yet another incident, a combined team of Imphal East police commando and 16 AR arrested one active cadre of RPF while conducting counter-insurgency operation in Nongshum area on Nov 20 .

The arrested man has been identified as Wahengbam Tombi Meitei alias Brangnu (23) s/o (L) W Sanatomba Meitei of Keibi Keikrak Mapal at present staying at Nongshum Mayai Leikai.

A case has been registered at Sagolmang PS and investigation is going on, it said.
