Imphal, March 05 2017:
National Students' Union of India (NSUI), student wing of Indian National Congress (INC) has raised several posers to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on core issues pertaining to the State.
Addressing a press meet held at Congress Bhavan this evening, State president of NSUI, P Bankimchandra said BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi had claimed that the Framework Agreement signed between NSCN (IM) and Government of India on August 3, 2015 does not threaten the territorial boundary and integrity of the State.
If so then why the BJP Government at the Centre and leaders of BJP State unit are not disclosing the contents of the agreement publicly, he asked.
He contended that the Central Government instead of taking up effective measures to end the United Naga Council (UNC)-sponsored ongoing economic blockade which has crossed 120 days has been blaming the State Government.
He asserted that deploying Central forces along the National Highways to disperse the blockade imposers is not the solution to the agitation.
Instead of finding alternate means why the BJP Government is claiming that the party would put an end to the prolonged blockade if it forms the next Government in the State, he questioned.
Claiming that the recent airlifting of petroleum products to the State for a few days was a political drama, Bankimchandra asked as to why the Central Government stopped the airlifting of essential commodities including life saving drugs.
Commenting on the controversial construction of National Sports University in the State, he asked why BJP Government could not construct the university despite being provided required land at two sites by the Congress Government in the State.
Can BJP produce a white paper on the expenditure incurred in advertisement and campaign in connection with the 11th State Legislative Assembly election, he further asked.
Wondering when the BJP's slogan "Acchhe Din Aayega" will bear fruit, he demanded BJP to stop goondaism and violence committed by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
Bankimchandra also demanded the party to revoke the decision to make Aadhaar card compulsory for children to avail Mid-Day meal.
