The flag hoisting ceremony of Independent candidate Y Antas Khan in Lilong Assembly Constituency for the second phase of the 11th State Legislative Assembly election was held at his Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai residence today.
Speaking on the occasion, Antas Khan said that he decided to contest the election as an Independent candidate against the attempt of the two National parties to win the trust of the people to meet their political goals.
He asserted that Independent and Regional party can also win elections and serve the people which he would prove.
He said that people give vote to qualified candidates not only for National part and hoped that the voters of Lilong would cast their vote wisely in the election to bring changes and all round development in the constituency.
Alleging that the two National parties are blaming each other instead of resolving outstanding issues confronting the State, he maintained that Independent and Regional party can resolve the issues amicably if they are elected.
There should be no politics on construction of road and bridge and supply of drinking water which are basic amenities, he added.
Antas Khan assured that he would keep top priority on economy, self-sustainable measures for unemployed youth and agriculture sector in the constituency if he is elected in the election.
Many people belonging to 39 polling stations and leaders of Islam religion attended the flag hoisting ceremony which was followed by a public meeting.
