Imphal, April 13:
Asserting that it is the duty of the people of Manipur to come forward and join the ongoing agitation launched for implementation of Meetei Mayek in the State, UCM has today urged the State Govt to implement the Mayek in the schools immediately before the agitation turns ugly.
In a statement, UCM said that the present situation has arisen because of the Govt's apathy towards the demand of the Mayek activists for the last few decades and added that the Govt should be held responsible for all the violence that has erupted in connection with the ongoing agitation.
Coming down heavily on the State Govt for not taking up any concrete measures regarding the Mayek issue, the president said that the Govt should implement Meetei Mayek in the schools in the interest of our future generations and further demanded the Govt to stop teaching Manipuri language in Bengali script in the schools and instead focus only in Meetei Mayek.
