Imphal, April 26 2021:
The Federation of Haomee (FoH) has urged the State Government to evict the illegal structures constructed at Mount Koubru, including the camps of Kuki National Front (KNF), a Suspension of Operation signatory.
Briefing media persons at its office at Kabo Leikai, Dewlahland, FoH president Sapamcha Jadumani claimed that cultivating poppy at Mt Koubru by felling trees is also a matter of serious concern that requires immediate intervention as it would have a dire consequence on the ecosystem.
He then urged the State Government to develop the sacred sites at Mt Koubru as a heritage site.
Saying that the ecosystem of Mt Koubru is deteriorating fast, Jadumani urged the State Government to evict the illegal structures constructed there and initiate work for the preservation of the sacred mountain.
He further stated that there should be no restriction on pilgrims climbing the mountain.
Jadumani also spoke about the recent letter sent to Union Home Minister Amit Shah by a group called Indigenous Manipur Tribal Student Union (IMTSU), New Delhi.
It may be mentioned here that IMTSU, in a letter dated 20th April, urged the Home Minister to ban the organisation (FoH) and arrest its leaders under relevant acts for allegedly targeting a section of the population.
Responding to the letter, Jadumani said that the charges levelled against the Federation are false, asserting that the FoH is a civil society organisation established to strengthen the rights and voices of aborigines of Manipur.
He also said that the FoH has also submitted a letter to the Home Minister as a response to the charges of IMTSU.
Saying that they never incite any hatred, he continued that IMTSU can be treated as a group out to hinder the activities of the Federation.
Jadumani also claimed that IMTSU is a 'bogus' union as they could not find any details of them.
The FoH demand to detect and deport foreigners from the soil of Manipur is rightful and guaranteed under the Constitution, it said adding that the angst expressed by IMTSU reveals the true voice of foreigners/immigrants.
