Imphal, April 24 2017:
While conveying best wishes to all the people of WESEA, Kangleipak and revolutionary groups of the land on the occasion of the 23rd raising day of KYKL (April 25), the outfit's Chairman N Oken has exuded confidence that people of the land would share due responsibility to protect the identity of the Nation.
Sharing certain thoughts and ideas of KYKL on the existing situation of WESEA, Kangleipak, the people and the revolutionary movements, Oken remarked that one major common issue of the people of WESEA is the identity crisis.
One fundamental objective of the political leaders of India is to transform the country from being a multinational Nation-State to a mono-cultural Nation State by assimilating all the people who have separate identities and cultures with the mainland Indians and their cultures, said the KYKL leader.
The entire project of cultural homogenization is a nation-making process for the Indians but it is national extinction for people of WESEA.
Some years back, WESEA witnessed sharp identity conflict between people of the region and India.
At the initial stages of the Naga and the Mizo revolutionary movements, not a single Naga or Mizo had any inkling in boldly declaring that he was not an Indian.
They had their own foreclosed identities.
Likewise other nations of WESEA started waging armed revolutionary movement and their basic premise was they were not Indians.
However, the revolutionary movements have decelerated these days and the indigenous cultures have been adulterated with Indian culture.
Identity diffusion is one common phenomenon presently witnessed in the entire WESEA.
One glaring manifestation of the identity crisis is the absence of any profound mass resistance movement against the Government of India's initiative to ban beef in the whole country including WESEA.
Now two contradictory identities have emerged and they have been compartmentalised.
Now people who have been espousing the philosophy of Hindutva have taken the reins of political power in India.
On the other hand, Opposition parties have grown extremely weak.
As such, people are speculating that the advocates of Hindutva would be at the helm of affairs for at least 10 years.
In such a scenario, the pace of cultural obliteration and assimilation would be accelerated to an unprecedented level, Oken asserted.
Around 80 per cent of the total population of India are Hindus.
MK Gandhi and Nehru who led the Indian freedom struggle perceived India as a country of Hindus.
The political doctrine followed by the present Government of India which envisaged domination of the periphery by the mainland was reflected well in the 'Motilal Nehru Report' published by Congress party in 1928 .
Even though Congress leaders embraced Hinduism, they were not informed by the ideology of Hindutva.
Hindutva is different from Hinduism/Hindu.
Hinduism is a collective of its different faiths and sects which are not always complementary but contradictory.
On the other hand, Hindutva is the fundamental ideology of militant Hindu nationalism and its primary objective is 'one Nation, one people, one culture'.
Under 'one Nation' there would be no separate structure like State even though there may be separate administrative unit like districts.
'One people' means a homogenous Nation exclusively made of people belonging to the Aryan stock.
In such an event, there would be no separate identity for the Mongoloid people of WESEA nor for the Dravidian people of South India nor for the people of Kashmir.
'One culture' means a mono-culture based on Hinduism.
There would be no place for Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and the indigenous religious faiths of WESEA like Sanamahism, Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak etc.
In the same manner, Hindi will emerge as the National language and all other languages would disappear.
All differences would be wiped out through inter-marriages and there would be no difference in terms of identity, culture, religion, philosophy etc.
This is the danger posed by Hindutva, Oken elaborated.
