Imphal, July 16:
In continuing protests demanding the complete revocation of the decision to extend the Centre-NSCN (IM) ceasefire to Manipur, a huge rally of rickshaw drivers and pullers was taken out in the periphery of Imphal city today.
The over 15,000 rickshaws participating in the rally made a spectacular sight as they stretched nose-to-bumper for kilometers along the rally route.
The rickshaw drivers carry banners and shouted slogans opposing any breakup of Manipur.
The rally was organized by the all Manipur Rickshaw Drivers and Pullers Welfare Association under the aegis of the United Committee, Manipur.
the rally, which commenced from the Porompat area proceeded through the Lamlong bazar, Dingko road, Thangmeiband, Nagamapal road, RIMS road, the DC road and after crossing the Naoremthong bridge, through Tera bazar, Kwakeithel bazar, Tiddim road, Keishamthong across the Pishumthong bridge, through Chingamathak road, before crossing the Yaiskul Thumbuthong to reach its final destination of the Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre ground inside the Palace Compound.
A meeting was also held at the BOAT in which the resolutions opposing the extension of the NSCN (IM) ceasefire to Manipur and the threats to Manipur�s territorial integrity were adopted.
