Imphal, June 12:
Sore at the poor performance of Government schools in this years HSLC examination results of which were declared recently, the State Education Department has initiated certain measures for improving the quality of education in the Government schools.
School Education director A Samungou told reporters today that his department will initiate its teachers rationalization scheme from the current month as a first step.
He admitted that the general public is not happy at the poor performances of the students of the Government schools in this years HSLC examination.
A meeting of the department officials had discussed the matter threadbare and decided to take up certain measures to increase the percentage of pass and position holders in the future examinations, he added.
Samungou said that he has yesterday instructed all the Zonal Education officers of the State to submit the detailed report of results of HSLC examinations.
A meeting of headmasters of all the government schools will be convened very soon, he said.
He also said that the Government schools have not been able to produce brilliant students as the teachers lack professional attitude and as the guardians keep a big gap between the private schools and Government schools.
Pointing out that it is a matter of shame that the pass percentage of students of the Government schools has been dwindling during the last five-six years, he said that only the Government cannot be blamed for the lapse.
