Manipur Governor Ved Marwah today briefed Home Minister LK Advani about the law and order and the financial situation in the state, ten days after the State was brought under President�s Rule.
�We are now trying to work out a series of measures on the administrative and security apparatus in the State,� he hold reporter after a 30 minute meeting with Advani.
This was the first meeting of the Manipur Governor with Home Minister after President�s rule was imposed.
Stating that the new administration had taken a number of steps to streamline the functioning, the Governor regretted that the entire administration was concentrated at Imphal and nobody wanted to move out of the State capital.
�We are trying to push out senior officials to the interior and try and find out a solution to the problems, he said adding the administration had redeployed four Divisional Commissioners and four Deputy Inspector General.
The idea is to make them accountable, he said.
Asked whether he had sought any financial package for the State, he said the financial situation was serious and the State Government staff had not received salaries for the last three months.
Asked about eh possibility of forming a government in the State, Marwah said though he did not want to speculate on the issue he would certainly look into if something merged.
The implementation of the Manipur Action Plan was reviewed at a meeting attended by representatives from State Government.
Ministry of Finance, CRPF, BSF and army headquarters here yesterday.
The meeting presided by PD Shenoy, Addl Secy, Home Ministry, discussed various issues including cases referred to CVI for investigations like Manipur lotteries, fake appointments, supply of police uniforms, fake ex-gratia payments and politician-militants nexus.
