The AMUCO has convened a joint meeting of all associations, organizations, clubs and meira paibi bodies of Manipur on July 10 at 10 am at MDU hall, Yaiskul Police Lane to discuss the present development arising out of the anticipated extension of the cease-fire between the Government of India and the NSCN{IM) to Manipur.
In a notification AMUCO requested all the organizations to attend the meeting without fail in the interest of the public.
Meanwhile, a joint meeting of the residents of Yaiskul area including Hiruhanba Leikai, Police Lane, Janmasthan, Moirangkhom, Moirangkhom Kabui Khul, Sougaijam Leirak, Chingakham Leirak and Keishamthong Kabui Khul was held at the MDU hall today with MK Binodini, Aribam Brajakumar, Lungpujei Kabui, Lt Col RK Rajendra (retd) and other eminent persons on the dais.
The meeting attended by members of various communities paid homage to the 15 martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the protection of the territorial integrity of Manipur and observed a two minute silence for their souls to rest in peace.
The meeting formed a committee called United Committee for Peace and Territorial Integrity to bring closer the hill and the valley peoples to ensure territorial integrity.
Aribam Brajakumar Sharma was elected as the chairman and Laishram Momocha as the convenor of the committee.
The meeting discussed the issue arising out of the decision of the Government of India to extend the NSCN (IM) ceasefire to Manipur.
In its resolution the meeting opposed the Centre's decision and resolved to join the movement for protection of State boundary.
The meeting demanded immediate release of AMSU leaders without condition.
A committee Against Ceasefire Extension in Manipur consisting of nine members was formed in a meeting of all the registered clubs, social organizations of Thangmeiband.
It will be the highest decision making body in the area in regard to the present tense situation.
It will be assisted by seven sub-committees.
