The Chairman of the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur, L Raghumani today effused optimism that the higher secondary schools and colleges under the Council will be able to absorb all the successful candidates in the class-X examination.
The Chairman said that Council is not unduly worried over whether it can provide admission to all the successful candidates of the BSEM and other boards from outside the state.
The chairman however added getting admission into their choice of colleges and higher secondary schools will depend entirely on the performance of the students in their class X examination.
At the moment there are a total of 110 secondary schools and colleges in the nine districts of the State, informed Raghumani.
In addition recognition to ten new secondary schools while 22 more schools have submitted their applications to the Council for recognition.
Given such a favorable condition the institutions and schools recognized by the Council will be able to absorb al the successful candidates, added the Chairman.
Giving a breakup of the number of secondary schools and colleges under the Council in the nine districts, Raghumani said there are 51 such institutions in both Imphal East and West, Thoubal(14), Bishnupur (12), Churachandpur (7), Chandel(4), Ukhrul(7), Senapati(11), and Tamenglong(4).The numbers do not include the ten schools to be granted recognition this year and the 22 institutes which have submitted applications for recognition.
On the large number of higher secondary schools which have mushroomed all over the /state during the past one year, the Chairman said that the signs are encouraging.
He said that new schools which have come up have eased the burden on the already existing schools during admission time.
He said the mushrooming of the schools have greatly helped in providing admission to the students as the Government has not been able to establish more schools due to the acute financial crisis.
On the criteria needed to be affiliated to the Council, the Chairman said the new institutions should have provisions for well stocked library, well equipped laboratory, good building and should have adequate campus area.
