Imphal, June 08:
In the history of two millennia associated with Manipur, the Manipuris have fought various mighty nations and protected the territory of Manipur from them even the little ones carried swords and undauntedly fought with mighty British Empire and laid down their precious lives for the cause of their motherland.
And now Isak-Muivah and Khaplang factions of the NSCN should fully take into account the possible backlashes before any challenge is made to the people of Manipur and its territory.
They should be well abreast of history, and if they happen to be aware of it.
They should well reconsider and review their predilections.
This was stated by the All Manipur United Clubs Organization (AMUCO) in a rejoinder to the verbal onslaught made by both NSCN(IM) and NSCN(K) on the AMUCO for its strong and firm opposition to the extension of cease-fire between the government of India and the NSCN to Manipur.
In the rejoinder, the AMCUO said if the leadership of the NSCN resolve to make territorial inroads to Manipur being cognizant of history, it is highly desirable that they clarify as to how much responsibility they are going to take for the possible conflict that may arise among the people of Manipur.
At the same time, said the rejoinder, is worthwhile to know how much the success will in their endeavor to erect imaginary walls of separation among the hill and valley people of Manipur, together called Manipuris, with the help of artificially induced sentiments and illusory words.
Describing its as very unfortunate, the AMUCO regretted that while the two factions of the NSCN, on behalf of the Naga brethren, have agreed to hold talks with India in whose hand and in the hands of whose Army the Naga brethren have been suffering for over 50 years now, they never thought of talking with the Meiteis who share blood relations with the Nagas.
Instead the NSCN leadership have viewed the Meiteis as their enemies.
Expressing doubt that the leadership have taken the fellow Nagas into confidence in this initiative, the AMUCO suspected that the NSCN leadership is trying to build up internal contradiction.
The AMUCO clarified that the people of Manipur will not at all be perturbed if peace talks are held between the government of India and both factions of NSCN, and Kashmiris militants.
However, it will not at all be tolerable to the people of Manipur if the territory of Manipur is threatened due to such peace initiative, said the rejoinder.
The AMUCO said it has no grudge whatsoever against the Nagas as well as the NSCN.
But has resentments even today against the government of India which doled out territories of Manipur and is now trying to reduce the territory till it is practically not viable for a state.
If the government of India is still disrespectful of the sentiments of the people, let it face the public reaction, it said.
On the other hand, the AMUCO also appealed to the concerned organizations not to make such statements through the media or at ay public platform which may give rise to communal or ethnic conflict.
