Imphal, November 03:
The Manipur Keithel Nupi Marup, Khwairamband bazar today categorically stated that ex-MLAs will not be allowed to contest the upcoming Assembly polls likely to be held in February next year.
The women's body also demanded that MLAs presently occupying Government quarters should vacate the quarters immediately or else they would launch a series of agitation.
Speaking to newsmen today, representatives of the women's body said that the ex-MLAs should be held solely responsible for the troubled times the State is passing through and also for the loss of lives and properties in the anti-cease fire agitation.
Instead of trying to change their true colours, the MLAs are now on a party hopping spree with an eye to the coming elections, they charged.
Constituencies which allow the ex-MLAs to contest the mid term poll will be held responsible for the deaths and destruction during the anti-cease fire agitation, the women further warned.
Charging that a number of MLAs have started hosting feasts at their quarters, the women leader demanded that the MLAs presently occupying Government quarters should vacate their quarters by November 5.If this is not heeded then intense agitation would be carried out, they warned.
The women also demanded that the three members of Manipur Forward Youth Front who were arrested yesterday should be released without any conditions.
The youths were arrested when they had gone to stop a feast organized at the quarters of ex-Lamlai MLA Ksh Biren, they said.
Meanwhile the Manipur Forward Youth Front in a statement said Ksh Biren should apologize to the people and its three members released immediately or else he will be socially boycotted.
