The All Jiribam Auto-Rickshaw Drivers and Owners Association has called a bandh in Jiribam sub-division from 6 am of July 3 till 6 am of next day in protest against the truce extension to Manipur.
The All Jiribam Bengali Manch (Apunba) has also called a 24 hours bandh in the area against the extension.
The bandh will come into effect from midnight of July 4 and end at midnight of 5th July.
NH-53 blockade relaxed The indefinite blockade called on the national highway-53 by Jiribam branches of MSF and AMSU, AJUCA and meira paibis against the truce extension has been relaxed from July 2.The bandh callers said that they will resume the blockade according to the fallout of the talks between the Union home minister LK Advani and the all party delegation of the State in Delhi on July 8.Protest rallies held at different places A massive protest rally participated by thousands of people including hill people was organized by the People for Peace and Social Harmony in Kakching today to the CF extension to Manipur.
The rally which began at around 11 am today from Yumni Macha High School campus after paying floral tributes at the statues of Janneta Irabot at Kakching Bazar Thongkhong later passed though Kakching Sumang Leikai, Naodam Bazar Senapati Leikai, Kha Manipur College Kakching Police station and then Kakching bazar again congregated at Naohallai Lampak.
The rallyists holding placards shouted slogan against the truce area extension and for saving the territory of the state.
Meanwhile rallies and sit-in-protest were carried out in some places in Imphal, Thoubal and Bishnupur district today against the extension of ceasefire.
Dharnas were held at Kyamgei, Malom Ethei Bazar, Pishumthong Bazar, Chingamakha, Lilong and Kongba Bazar.
The dharna at Kongba Bazar was attended by Muslim, Kabuis and Meitei women.
