Imphal, July 01:
The Manipuri Students Federation, MSF, today said the resolutions drawn up by the United Naga Council-sponsored Naga Convention concluded on June 29, were motivated by narrow visions.
It said the observation that the Meiteis are the only community which is opposing the ceasefire extension is totally misplaced.
There is no question of suppression of one community by another in the movement.
It is for preservation of the territorial integrity of Manipur, it added.
Elaborating its position, the MSF statement said the majority community, Meitei, in the state has been looking upon all the communities in the state in the same outlook which is itself evident from that the fact that chief ministers from other communities could occupy their positions longer than those from Meitei community.
The statement also said as regards the appeal made for understanding the history of Nagas, the MSF statement said the appeal should not be made to the Meitei only, but also to other around 30 communities co-existing in the state.
It further said the MSF would not interfere with the concerns of any organizations or community.
However, if any resolution of such organization or community is detrimental to the larger interest, the MSF will certainly oppose that.
Manipur is not only for a particular community but also for all the other communities living in it.
Therefore, no community should try to disremember the state for its individual and vested interests, said the statement.
Meanwhile, under the initiative of the MSF, a peace understanding meet was held at Mahabali Kabui village.
