Imphal, June 29 2021:
Continuing its initiative of distributing edible items to Covid affected households, the All Manipur United Club Organisation (AMUCO) in co-ordination with All Manipur Women Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA) and United Clubs Organisation Bishnupur District (UCOBID) distributed edible items to around 191 needy households Of different localities in Bishnupur district today.
President of AMUCO, Pheiroijam Nando Luwang, general secretary of AMAWOVA, Kshetrimayum Sujata and president of UCOBID, Thokchom Noren were present in today's distribution programme, said a press release by AMUCO.
The edible items were distributed to households in Saiton, Wangoo, Kumbi, Thanga, Karang, Keibul Lamjao, Naransena, Sunusiphai and Kwakta.
In view of the hardships faced by the needy and underprivileged people due to restrictions and curfew imposed by the State to contain the further spread of COVID-19, AMUCO appealed to the Government to implement special policies for the welfare of the needy and downtrodden and help in resolving the problems faced by them.
AMUCO further stressed on the need to ramp up the Covid vaccination drive in the State to combat the COVID-19 pandemic effectively arid stated that special emphasis should be given for the vaccination of underprivileged sections of the society who are in utmost need of protection from the deadly pandemic.
Keirao
Relief items were distributed to households of Kyamgei Awang Leikai, Kyamgei Maning Leikai and Kyamgei Khoirom Leikai in Keirao AC today by Yumnam Mombi Leima.
Y Mombi Leima on behalf of her husband Yumnam Shanta Meetei, intending candidate from Keirao AC in the upcoming State Assembly Election who is in jail booked under NSA at present, distributed the relief items to the locals with an aim to alleviate their suffering amid this difficult time of COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking on the sidelines, Y Mombi Leima said that she will continue to help the people of Keirao AC in the absence of her husband and appealed to all to get vaccinated and follow Covid SOPs to stay safe and protected against COVID-19 .
Lamlai
Essential items were distributed to households in the containment zone at Laikot Kharam and those who are under quarantine at Nongpok Heirok under the aegis of Kh Ibomcha, State Council Member of BJP Manipur and chairman of COVID-19 Second Wave Fighting Task Force BJP Lamlai Mandal today.
Face masks and hand sanitizers were also distributed to Laikot Kharam Task Force.
President of BJP Lamlai Mandal was also present on the occasion.
Kh Ibomcha urged all to get vaccinated and follow Covid SOPs to protect from COVID-19 and also stressed on the need to get tested to know one's Covid status.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Rickshaw Drivers' and Pullers Welfare Association (AMRDPWA) distributed relief materials to labourers and rickshaw drivers today.
The relief items were provided by social worker Rajesh Soraisam.
The association expressed gratitude to Rajesh Soraisam for the assistance provided to the section of the society which is one of the most affected by the pandemic.
