Report on regular physical classes submitted

University and higher education director Dr Rangitabali Waikhom has submitted her report to the commissioner (higher & technical education) seeking approval from the government for reopening of colleges and resumption of regular physical classes with strict adherence to SOPs put in place for containing COVID-19 .
As per the report submitted by Dr Rangitabali Waikhom, admission process for first, third and fifth semesters of undergraduate programme at government and aided colleges of the state for the academic session 2021-22 had already been completed but unable to begin physical classes due to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
In her report submitted on October 21, Dr Rangitabali said that comments from principals of government and aided colleges of the state suggested reopening of colleges in view of the declining COVID-19 positivity rate.
Principal of colleges also shared their opinions on strict adherence to COVID-19 SOPs inside campuses when colleges are reopened, reducing capacity of students so that social distancing could be maintained inside classes and conduct of regular classes for students who wished to attend physical class and online class for students who do not want to attend physical class.
Apart from this, all staff of colleges and students should be vaccinated before resuming regular physical class, Rangitabali mentioned in her report and urged commissioner (higher & technical education) to take concrete stand of the government on reopening colleges.
She also urged the government to formulate a proper guideline for reopening of collages and ensure regular conduct of physical classes.
