Army expedition team honours Covid warriors

Imphal, April 11 2022: On the occasion of "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" and to commemorate the 258th raising day of the Army Medical Corps, a motorcycle expedition is being conducted by Army Medical Corps.

According to an AR statement, the motorcycle rally has been covering 12 states including seven north east states and the team has been visiting more than 75 Army & Civil medical establishments to motivate the doctors and paramedics.

The expedition also aims to honour the frontline warriors in the fight against COVID who provide critical medical support in-keeping with the ethos of 'Shoulders behind Soldiers' .

The expedition comprising eight officers, and two non-commissioned officers started from National War Memorial, Delhi and reached Mantripukhri garrison on Monday after covering a distance of nearly 2700 km.

The expedition team felicitated the frontline warriors at RIMS, Imphal and also paid their homage to the freedom fighters at INA Museum, Moirang.

The expedition will cover over 10,000 km out of which 5500 km are in the beautiful jungles and mountains of north east over a span of 20 days of driving time.

On their arrival at RIMS, director Prof A Santa Singh extended warm welcome to the army expedition team led by Col (Dr.) Rajesh W Adhau, who is commanding officer of 422 Field Hospital, Delhi Kargil Frontline and Rahul Patil, vice chairman of Bay of Bengal Initiative on Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).

A simple function was held at the conference Hall of RIMS Jubilee Hall during which Prof Santa briefed the visiting team about the Institute and roles played by it in catering to healthcare and medical education services since 1972 .

The institute has been contributing by producing number of doctors including specialists and super-specialists, he said.

In his address, Col Rajesh Adhau shared the experience of his and his team during the difficult times of COVID-19 pandemic.

It was quite a challenging period and learned invaluable lessons, he informed the gathering, which also consisted of senior faculty members and staff of RIMS.
