Imphal, July 24 2021:
Imphal Times staff reporter Lairenjam Bijen passed away due to Covid-19 at RIMS Hospital on Friday around 9.45pm.Bijen was the eldest son of (L) L Muhindro of Sogolband Tera Sapam Leirak.
He is survived by his wife and daughter.
Bijen joined Imphal Times in 2016 as a designer cum reporter.
In addition to being a video editor, the deceased reporter was also involved in many video documentaries.
He was admitted to RIMS Hospital on July 19 around 4.30 pm and later, tested positive for Covid-19 .
He was then shifted to the trauma centre of the hospital the next day and was undergoing treatment there.
However, his condition worsened and later, passed away around 9.45 pm on Friday.
Following his sudden demise, AMWJU Standing Committee members, Advisory Committee members and AMWJU members expressed their deepest condolences and offered floral tributes to the portrait of the deceased at the Journalists' Memorial Pillar, Manipur Press Club here on Saturday.
A two-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Works Minister Th Biswajit also expressed deepest condolences over the demise of Lairenjem Bijen Singh.
In a condolence message, the minister said that his (Bijen) untimely demise has left a huge void which cannot be filled and is a loss to the media fraternity of the state.
He then offered condolences to the bereaved family, friends and associates of the deceased.
