Armed force veterans provide financial aid to ESMs

Imphal, June 21 2021:
Armed Forces Veterans of Manipur provided financial assistance to ex-servicemen, whose families have been adversely affected by Covid-19 pandemic, in a function held at Rajya Sainik Board Manipur on Monday.
In a release, Indian Army Veteran general secretary Lt Col L Manongba informed that a few benevolent ESMs of the state contributed to raise a collective pool of fund under the guidance of Lt Gen Konsam Himalay Singh.
The ESMs of Manipur are grateful to all the donors including some from outside the state and some from those not in uniform services, it said.
The release informed that financial assistance ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000 was distributed to the beneficiaries.
Abujam Ojit Singh, s/o (L) Hav Abujam Shyama Singh, AMC and (L) Abujam Ongbi Angambi Leima from Kakching; L Mangol Nagnbi Devi, w/o (L) Hav Abhi-ram Meitei, Assam Regt from Sugnu; and Th Anjana Devi, w/o (L) Hav Th Ibomcha (165 TA) from Awang Sekmai were provided financial assistance of Rs 25,000 each.
Hav S Sitlhou of 15 Assam Regiment from Motbung was also provided Rs 15,000 as financial assistance to show solidarity to Sitlhou who lost both his parents due to Covid-19.Next of kin of (L) Naib Subedar Mairembam Tomba Singh was also provided with a separate donation of Rs 2,18,000 given through collection by Ex-Servicemen of Bishnupur.
A large chunk of Rs 1,00,000 was donated by Col David Devasahayam (Retd) of 8th Gorkha Rifles.
He is the chairman and MD of Chennai based Radiant Group.
ESMS of Bishnupur district contributed an additional amount of Rs 50,000 as mandated in their association rules for any death of a member, the release informed.
All necessary protocols of Covid-19 were strictly observed during the function, it added.
