The 71st Republic Day celebration concluded today with folk dance competition and beating the retreat ceremony held at 1ST Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Imphal West.
The ceremony was graced by Governor Dr Najma Heptulla as chief guest.
As part of the programme, the Governor handed red blankets to 16 village chiefs and headmen of eight hill villages.
The Governor gave way prizes in different categories to the participants of the 71st Republic Day celebration.
Out of 15 cultural troupes from the hill and valley districts which participated in today's folk dance competition, Scheduled Caste Children's Cultural Dance Academy, Kakching won the 1st position, the second place was jointly awarded to Nungnang Cultural Troupe, Noney district and the Kanto Awang Leikai Development Organisation, Imphal East while the third place went to Konsakul Cultural Troupe, Kangpokpi district with a cash price of Rs, 50,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.
In the march past category, uniform contingents of BSF and Fire Service jointly secured the 1st position, CDO combined (Imphal & Bishnupur) and CRPF (male) contingents were placed in the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Among the female uniform contingents, the Mahila contingents of CRPF) and 9 IRB (Commando) were placed in the 1st and 2nd position respectively.
The third place was jointly awarded to Home Guard and 9 IRB Mahila Contingent.
Among the NCC groups, 14th Sr NCC Boys & Girls, NCC Sr Air Wing and 65th NCC Sr Girls secured the 1st, 2nd & 3rd position respectively.
Among the school contingents, Sainik School, Imphal & KGBV, Andro were placed in the 1st position while 2nd place went to Manipur Public School, Koirengei and National Sports Academy (Girls) while Residential School, Khurai & Malom Mega High School were jointly placed in the 3rd position.
Among college contingents, GP Women's College, Imphal & DM College (Science) secured the 1st position and DM College (Arts) & Modern College secured 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Among the band contingents, the Band Party of Assam Rifles secured the 1st position, Territorial Army Band & 9 IRB Mahila Band secured the 2nd position jointly while CRPF Band secured the 3rd position.
Forest Department, Manipur Aids Control Society (MACS) and Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Department were placed in the 1st, 2nd & 3rd position respectively for gate construction.
In the tableaux display category, RUSA, Water Resources & Social Welfare Department secured 1st, 2nd & 3rd position respectively.
In connection with the 71st Republic Day celebration, special prizes were given to the Commandant, 1st Bn MR, IPR Director, Chief Engineer (PWD), Chief Engineer (PHED), Managing Director (MSPDCL), Commissioner, IMC, Parade Commander, AD/MPTC, Pangei, Guard of Honour, Dy Commandant, 9th IRB, Mahila Bn, Secretary, Rajya Sainik Board, Social Welfare Department (Differently- Abled Platoon), Secretary, Sana Kangla Lairembi Taret, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society and Mahila Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Manipur.
The ceremony was attended Deputy CM Y Joykumar , other Ministers, high ranking civil and police officials.
