Shoplifters held

Police on Sunday arrested two shoplifters who stole articles from shops owned by Thailand national.
A statement issued by IGP (L&O-I), L Kailun identified the two shoplifters as Md Zaved Ali (23) S/o (L) Md Ito of Kshetrigao Chandam Leikai and Md Noushat Khan (22) S/o Md Jahuruddin of Kshetrigao Chandam Leikai.
The two shoplifters were detained around 8.50 pm yesterday and later arrested after they were identified by the shop/stall owners.
The police statement said that in order to prevent the recurrence of such incidents security has been beefed up inside the stall rows and armed security was deployed in and around stalls owned by Thailand nationals yesterday.
Meanwhile, the police statement also clarified that the ticket counter for Sangai festival was closed early yesterday considering the safety and security of the public/visitors.
It said that by 6pm, the venue was already full and the excessive crowd became difficult to manage hence selling of tickets was stopped to reduce the volume of the crowd.
At the same time, it also urged the visitors to come to the festival venue at 11am and avoid peak hour rush after 5pm and to take proper care of their wards and belongings inside the venue.
It asked the public to inform the security personnel deployed or to the police control room in case of any problem.
