Substitute staff pulled up

A man who substituted a staff of RIMS who was given duty at the Casualty counter was pulled up today by the Head of the Department of Casualty Dr Lekhachandra and handed over to RIMS police picket.
The man pulled up today has been identified as Heisnam Yaiphaba (28) s/o Kumar of Naoremthong Laishram Leikai.
He was used as a substitute by some staff of RIMS Casualty counter whenever they had personal works during office hours.
Heisnam Yaiphaba told The Sangai Express that he was issuing tickets to patients on behalf of one Budhi when he was pulled by Dr Lekhachandra at around 2.30 pm today.
Between 2 pm and 2.30 pm, Yaiphaba issued around eight tickets.
He used to work at the Casualty counter whenever Budhi had personal works.
For this, he was given Rs 100 per day.
Disclosing that he used to substitute other staff posted at the Casualty counter, Yaiphaba said that he has been working as a substitute staff for over one year.
He said that he worked as a substitute for Md Salam, currently posted at Casualty counter and also for one Bheigyabati who has been posted elsewhere now.
For working on their behalf, Md Salam and Bheigyabati gave Yaiphaba Rs 300 to Rs 400 per day.
Earlier, Yaiphaba used to work as runner of a pharmacy before he substituted RIMS staff posted at the Casualty counter and he sat at the counter till 7 pm.
Sometimes, he was called through telephone as and when they required him to take their places.
He took Budhi's position today as Budhi's son was leaving for Mizoram today.
Nonetheless, Yaiphaba pledged that he would not do any such substitution works in future.
RIMS MS Prof M Amuba said that befitting action would be initiated against all those who assign their duties to third persons.
