International Taekwondo Championships State taekwondo players win medals

Imphal, July 18 2016:
State young taekwondo players bagged medals in the Jeonju Open International Taekwon-do Championships, organised by the Jeonju Taekwondo Association which concluded on July 11 at Jeonju, South Korea.
In the taekwondo poomsae event, Aparna Yengkhom clinched a gold medal in the Under-14 girl's bout while Korea won a silver and China and Australia bagged a bronze medal each.
Ahongsangbam Mangalleiba also claimed a gold medal in the Under-14 boy's group while Philippines bagged silver and Korea and China claimed a bronze medal each.
Lastly, in the Under-17 boy's category, Taorem Jotin went for a silver medal after losing against Korea (gold) while China and Italy bagged a bronze medal each.

In the kaoru gay (fighting) event, Taorem Jotin, Ahongshangbam Mangalleiba and Aparna Yengkhom respectively clinched a gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
In the International master poomsae event, Takhellambam Raju lost against Korea and settled for a bronze medal.
Altogether 16 players and two coaches participated in the championship in which three players and a coach from the State namely Aparna Yengkhom, Ahongsangbam Mangalleiba, Taorem Jotin and coach Takhellambam Raju Singh represented India.
It may be mentioned that Taorem Jotin, A Mangalleiba and Aparna Yengkhom are players from Creative Taekwondo Institute, Sagolband.
The chief coach of the Institute T Raju also thanked Korea Manipuri Association who gave a warm welcome to their visit.
