Thoubal tops in SOP violation again; Rs 1.72 lakh fine collected

Imphal, April 30 2021:
Thoubal district again topped in the number of SOP violators with 314 violators followed by Imphal West with 250 today.
On April 28, Thoubal district had topped the list with the most number of violators with 209 persons being booked.
The Police Department collected a sum of Rs 1.72,960/- (one lakh seventy two thousand nine hundred sixty only) as fines from 610 SOP violators today.
The Police Department continued the crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc.
to prevent the spread of COVID-19 .
The Police Department warned that those who violate the SOP shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
In total, the Police Department has collected a sum of Rs 1,90,42,270/- (Rs one crore, ninety lakh, forty two thousand two hundred seventy only) as of today.
Despite the increas in penalty for SOP violators, the public continue to violate the guidelines.
