Imphal, September 23:
Continuing its drive, the Senapati District Consumers' Club recently seized a number of expired goods ranging from cosmetics to edible items from 34 shops located at the district's headquarters.
In a statement, the Club said that the seized goods included expired cosmetics, biscuits, soft drinks, vegetable oils and ghee besides others.
Other than these goods, the Club also seized five weighing measures not meeting the standard weights, said the statement.
The Club has cautioned the customers to be more vigilant in the future and asked them to buy the goods only after verifying the labels.
The drive was taken out after a meeting on September 15 at the Indoor Stadium, Senapati district headquarters, said the Club's president D Maryna.
The president has also warned the shopkeepers that legal action would be taken up against them if they continue to cheat the customers.
The president said that similar drive would be carried out in all the townships of the district for which an action committee has been set up.
