Imphal, July 25:
If the NSCN (IM) is serious about bringing peace in the region by entering a ceasefire agreement with GOI, it would not resort to senseless violence and lootings on the NH-39 during the past four years.
This was stated by the General Secretary of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) Muktasana at a press conference today.
He observed that during the ceasefire period the outfit has never shown their inclination for peace but spread more violence in the region by giving tactical support to various UG organizations.
The GOI by entering the ceasefire extension and subsequent agreement to extend it without territorial limits will only bring communal disharmony in the region.
It is nothing but reduced to a license to the outfit to commit more violence, he noted.
Condemning the Governor who is also the Chancellor of MU, he accused him of taking sides with GOI and ignoring the sentiments and interests of the people.
He has failed to project the grim reality that the State is facing today to the central leaders, Muktasana mentioned.
The Governor was also accused for allowing the rally of Nagas from Nagaland into Senapati on July 19 where as the one by the students who came to surrender their text books on July 20 were tear-gassed and shot at with rubber bullets leading to the death of one person.
