The Prime Minister of India, Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee has once again reassured that his government would take up positive action on the issue of extension of ceasefire agreement between Government of India and NSCN (IM) before July 31.The assurance was conveyed to a four member delegation of Manipur including the Union Minister of State for Food Processing, Mr Thounaoujam Chaoba, and three other MLAs namely O Joy, Moirangthem Hemanta and Ksh Biren, when the delegation called on him at the Parliament House Office, New Delhi around 12.30 pm today.
The meeting of the representatives of the MPs and MLAs Forum Manipur which lasted about 30 minutes also apprised the Prime Minister, the prevailing tense situation in Manipur which has been increasingly explosive since the last couple of days.
During the meeting, the delegation also impressed upon the Prime Minister, the demand of the people of the state to review the ceasefire agreement between Government of India and NSCN (IM) and also to remove the words "without territorial limits" incorporated in the current ceasefire agreement.
