Jaisalmer to Rome rally flagged off

Imphal, April 20 2017:
IG of Assam Rifles (South) Major General Virendra Singh flagged off "Jaisalmer to Rome" car rally from Mantripukhri this morning.
A total of 20 countries will be covered by the rally being represented by a four-member team from Rajasthan led by Rotarian Manu Paliwal.
They reached Imphal yesterday in a Land Rover car and have started heading for Myanmar as the next destination.
Manu Paliwal who is the team leader of the rally said that the rally is being organised with the objective of popularising Rajasthan through Rotary and promoting India as a tourist destination.
He elaborated that the rally will cover 35,500 kms in 150 days.
He asserted that they will put in earnest effort to ensure that the rally is included in Limca and Guinness Book of Records.
The team along with the president of Rotary Club, Imphal interacted with the IGAR (S) and thanked the Assam Rifles for the assistance rendered in their venture.
A media interaction programme was also organised prior to flagging off the rally.
Assam Rifles also facilitated their stay at Moreh from where the team will proceed towards Myanmar.
The rally carries the message of rendering humanitarian services by joining Rotary Club, he added.
Terming the rally adventurous, Major General Virendra Singh hailed the rally team and wished for a strong and continued co-operation with Rotary Club for Manipur.
