Imphal, August 18:
Bracing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, State Unit BJP has decided to field its candidates for both the seats of the Inner and Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituencies.
Consequently, campaigning for the election has begun along with holding a series of meetings.
According to party sources, the decision to contest in both the Lok Sabha seats was taken during a meeting of the State executives of the party attended by BJP National general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal and North East in-charge of the party Chandrasekhar Rao who visited Imphal recently.
Following the decision, the party high command had also issued instructions to start the election campaign.
Acting on the directives of the National leaders of the party, the State unit has also set the election campaign in motion along with setting up Election Committee and Election Management Committee.
The State unit party president Dr H Borababu would be the chairman of the nine-member Election Committee which would be responsible for selecting the probable candidates and recommending the same to the National president.
As for the Election Management Committee, the first round of the meeting has already been held and the monitoring process of the prevailing political situation in all the Assembly Constituencies and election campaigning are
underway.
Talking to The Sangai Express, State unit party president Dr H Borababu disclosed that they have started receiving applications from aspiring candidates of the Lok Sabha election.
He said that the party is confident in the Inner Parliamentary Constituency and for the Outer Parliamentary Constituency efforts are on for forming alliance with the regional parties.
If the alliance can be formed then the success of the party candidate in the Outer Parliamentary constituency is a certainty.
The prevailing political scenario in the State is bound to have its bearing on the position of the Congress led UPA Government.
So the BJP led NDA Govt would surely return at the Centre, he added.
