MLA of Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency and MANITRON chairman Dr Kh Ratankumar today conducted an inspection tour of the developmental works being taken up in his Constituency under the Special Plan Assistance (SPA) and Manipur Development Society (MDS).
The inspection tour covered the construction of the roads and bridges being taken up from Sekmaijin Thongkhong to Khordak Ichin and market sheds.
Talking to mediapersons after the inspection, the MLA infomed that 80 percent of the work on constructon of the road from Sekmaijin Thongkhong to Khordak Ichin stretching over a distance of 17.5 kms along with alottment of over Rs 80 lakhs under SPA has been completed.
However, the remaining work has been stalled after the stage of laying WBM following some disagreements with the constractors.
Taking serious note of the matter, MLA appealed to all concerned for co-operation in completing the work in consideration of the difficulties being faced by the people.
In response to the public complaint that the width and the black topping of the road from Sekmaijin Thongkhong to Khordak Ichin being taken up under the funding of fiscal year of 2007-08 is not in conformity to the laid down specifications of the Department and the contractors do not listen even if the same had been pointed out, the MLA assured that the matter would be brought up to the notice of the authorities concerned for taking up necessary corrective measures if the quality of the work is found to have been compromised.
During the course of the tour, the MLA also inspected the progress of the market shed of Phouoibi Keithel which is under construction at Khordak Ichin, located at the joining point of the Assembly Constituencies of Mayang Imphal, Thanga and Hiyanglam.
While informing that the construction of the market shed had been stalled for the last few years following certain problems, the MLA said that to ensure completion of the market shed at the earliest possible and its dedication to the people a sum of Rs 5 lakhs has been set aside in the budget.
Over and above this, Manipur Development Society has been entrusted with the construction work.
The MLA also called upon all concerned not to given any sort of obstruction in taking up developmental works of the people.
