Imphal, November 13:
Reiterating its charges against the Zonal Education Officer of Ukhrul, the Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long has today demanded the immediate transfer of the said officer as well as the DI/DDo of Ukhrul, or else it would be constrained to take up its own course of action.
Levelling a series of charges, the youth body in a statement today said that there has been rampant corruption in the ZEO office, Ukhrul with the result that many school buildings and other infrastructure have been left incomplete.
Citing examples, TMNL charged that though the money has been withdrawn, the Kashung Jr HS has not been constructed while the building for KK Leishiphanit CRC has been constructed in complete violation of official specifications.
The Block Resource Centre at Kamjong has been left uncomplete even after a lapse of one year, though the time given for its construction was three months at the minimum, it alleged.
Charging that appointments under the SSA have violated the guidelines, TMNL said that though the VECs are the competent grass root bodies to recommend the names of mid-day meal cooks, the ZEO has not followed the recommendations of the competent bodies.
Giving examples, TMNL said that though the VECs had recommended the name of R Thotchuila, a widow, for the cook for Chingai HS, the ZEO office appointed another cook.
The VECs of Chingai also recommended the name of one Panraphei for EGS (P), but another person was appointed, it further alleged.
The DI/DDO of Ukhrul is working hands in glove with the ZEO in illegally collecting money from the employees of the ZEO office, alleged TMNL and added that Rs 1000 each was taken from 385 employees under the pretext of preparing the MGEL.
The DI/DDO is also deducting 15 pc for disbursement of bills/DA including from the adhoc employees, alleged the statement.
Going further, the statement alleged that the present DI/DDO was involved in adhoc fake appointment in the district for which he was once placed under suspension.
TMNL said that all the cases cited are just the tip of the ice berg and assured that it can come out with witnesses and other documents to substantiate the charges.
Expressing surprise, TMNL said that it was unfortunate that student bodies should speak up on behalf of the Govt and added that if there is any doubt or confusion regarding the allegations then TMNL can answer any queries.
The TMNL leadership will resign from their respective posts if the allegations are proved wrong, it asserted.
