PNB robbers allegedly fled towards Myanmar border

Ukhrul, December 02 2023:
The unidentified armed mis-creants who looted the Punjab National Bank, Viewland Ukhrul on November 30, Thursday have allegedly escaped towards the Indo-Myanmar border through the Ukhrul-Jessami National Highway 202 .
Sources informed that one villager of Sihai Khullen under Ukhrul district whose house is near the village road was forced to drop the robbers in his Mahindra Bolero camper towards the Indo-Myanmar international border pillar number 124-126 .
The international border from Sihai village by kaccha road is roughly about 30 km.
The said driver was picked up by Ukhrul Police at around 7 am today from his residence at Sihai Khullen.
He is being interrogated by the Ukhrul Police while filing this report.
It is also learnt that, at around 7 pm on November 30, the armed miscreants forcefully asked the owner of the Bolero camper to take them towards Sihai Kahaophung which is about 10 km from his house.
The driver dropped them at Sihai Kahaophung and returned home only after 8 pm.
According to the police investigation, it took just 12 minutes to execute the whole robbery, one of the biggest bank heist in recent memory.
The entire PNB bank heist on Thursday was captured on CCTV.
Tangkhul Naga Long, the apex body of Tangkhul community has strongly condemned the incident.
"TNL strongly condemns such unlawful and despicable act.
"It is our fervent appeal to the police and concerned authorities to leave no stone unturned to arrest the perpetrators of the crime and punish them as per law.
It is very sad and unfortunate that our hometown is in the news for the wrong reason," stated the condemnation note issued by the TNL.
