Imphal, December 02 2023:
Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs Manipur (FATYCM) has taken serious note of the non-payment of MGNREGS wages in the hill districts of the state and requested the government to release funds immediately in order to help the needy job card holders before Christmas.
In a statement issued Saturday, FATYCM acknowledged that Manipur has been facing difficulties since May 3, 2023 .
However, long-overdue non-payment of the MC for the 2020-2022 financial years have now elapsed, and this is a matter of great concern.
While contending that the BJP-led government in the state has the lowest rank in respect of MGNREGS, the Federation also pointed out that the hill people are primarily daily wage earners who rely on the financial support of the state government.
As a result of the prolonged delay in fund payments, they are experiencing challenges, it added.
The FATYCM then appealed to the department concerned to look into the matter seriously in order to avert agitation by the Federation.
