Tele-medicine facility will be available at JN Hospital, Porompat from June 4 and an area of 20 acres will also be acquired for setting up a medical college at the hospital.
An official source informed The Sangai Express that a Regional Paediatrics ART centre will also be opened at JN Hospital.
The tele-medicine facility to be installed at JN Hospital will be connected with all the district hospitals of the State.
The Regional Paediatrics ART Centre will house and treat children infected by HIV/AIDS.
Moreover, under funding from NEC and MACS, a new block is being constructed at JN Hospital, specially for treatment of AIDS patients.
The new block will have a separate chamber of 30 beds reserved for AIDS patients.
As a whole the new block will have the capacity of 100 beds.
To make room for a medical college at the JN Hospital complex, the State Government will be initiating process to acquire 20 acres of land belonging to Government offices located in the vicinity.
As per the Government plan, parts of land belonging to Veterinary office, PWD office housing Hot Mix Plant, office of the Regional Family Welfare Training Centre and Morning High School will be acquired for the proposed medical college, added the source.
