Imphal, November 05 2021:
BJP Manipur Pradesh secretary Kongkham Vikram has stressed the need for developing Thangmeiband into a model assembly constituency and called for public support in order to realise the goal.
Presenting gifts to women of Thangmeiband assembly constituency during an event held at his residence in relation with Ningol Chakkouba on Friday, Vikram, who is preparing to contest the forthcoming State assembly election on BJP ticket, said that Thangmeiband has remained as one of the most backward constituencies of the state despite being in the heart of Imphal city.
It is unfortunate that past and incumbent MLAs did not do much to bring the much needed development in the constituency.
Till today, people of the constituency have been facing the inconvenience of poor drainage system and road condition.
Despite having potential to become a developed constituency due to its close proximity to various business centres, the constituency has been remaining in backward position till date.
No policies have been taken up to empower youth and women of the constituency.
It is time to elect a visionary leader, who can bring such development in Thangmeiband so that it could become a model constituency, he said.
Vikram further said that he developed sense of nationalism and had been ardently following leaders with secular outlook since his early childhood.
This ideology led him to join the BJP with the objective to serve the public, he said, while adding that he will hand over the MLA local area development fund to the people if he got elected.
