BJP demands clarification from AMSU unit

Thoubal, August 05 2021: Deeply concerned over the allegation levelled against Heirok MLA Th Radheshyam through the media by AMSU Thoubal district committee regarding demolition of the building of Community Health Centre at Heirok, BJP Heirok Mandal has demanded the AMSU unit to clarify on the matter at the earliest.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, BJP Heirok spokesperson Phuritsabam Dinesh expressed remorse that AMSU levelled baseless allegation against MLA Rad-heshyam when members of the committee came for inspection of CHC Heirok on August 2.BJP welcomes the inspection visit by AMSU unit but the Mandal takes the baseless allegation levelled against the local MLA with seemingly politically motivated outlook seriously, he said and asserted that the building of the CHC Heirok was demolished by the people as it was found constructed without quality control and this must be understood by the AMSU committee.

Surprised over the AMSU unit's claim that the wooden building of CHC Heirok has been in use for a long time as a temporary building, Dinesh said that it should clarify the reason behind terming the building as a temporary one.

He explained that a new building for CHC Heirok started construction in 2009-10 under National Rural Health Mission at the then estimated cost of Rs 2.43 crore with Manipur Development Society as work agency.

During the time, CHC Sagolmang and CHC Sugnu too were constructed with the same estimated cost.

Construction of CHC Sugnu was completed in time and handed over to the people in the year 2014 but CHC Heirok building remained unattended for a long time.

When the building of CHC Heirok was first inspected by Okram Ibomcha when he was the.director of health department, it was found that no quality control had been maintained in the construction and hence the director made is clear to the work agency that the building was unusable.

Apart from this, former health minister L Jayantakumar also inspected the building in 2018 and suggested construction of a new building as the uncompleted one could not be used.

Dinesh further said that BJP Heirok Mandal fully acknowledges activities being done by AMSU for the welfare of students and the people but it was very unfortunate that it hurled baseless allegation against an elected representative of the people and advised the students' body not to make unfounded charges.
