State reports 757 new cases, 8 fatalities

The state continues to witness high test positivity rate with Thursday reporting 757 new positive cases out of 5275 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 14.35 per cent besides eight fatalities.
So far, the state has recorded 72,747 positive cases and 1240 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pan -demic out of which 5323 new cases and 93 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
The current month saw an addition of 3648 new cases and 58 fatalities.
The active caseload dropped to 8686 after 1078 patients recovered in the last 24 hours.
Of the active cases 3347 (38.53 per cent) are in home isolation, 2763 (31.81 percent) in CHICs, 1622 (18.67 per cent) in CCCs and 954 (10.98 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 141 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 371 are on oxygen support and 66 on ventilator support.

At the same time, 85 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Thursday evening, 141 beds including 31 ICU/HDU beds are available in different private hospitals including Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, and 1928 beds in different CCCs.
RIMS has 85 beds including 20 ICU/HDU beds and JNIMS has no vacant beds while different district hospitals and CHCs have 154 beds including 13 ICU/HDU beds available as on Wednesday evening.
According to official reports, the 757 new cases included 753 people (354 male & 399 female) from among the general population and 4 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were tested at RIMS (71), JNIMS (42), District Hospitals (443) and other testing centres (20l).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (230), Imphal West (277), Thoubal (58), Bishnupur (48), Kakching (30), Ukhrul (9), Churachandpur (62), Chandel (9), Senapati (10), Tamenglong (13), Tengnoupal (5) and Kangpokpi (2).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 8 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided by the committee.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (2), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2) and Churachandpur (l).
The cumulative number of deaths is 1614.Out of the eight victims, three did not have any co-morbid conditions while two had first dose vaccine.
Out of the 1078 patients discharged, 533 were under home isolation, while 23 recovered at RIMS, JNIMS (17), CCCs (210) andCHICs (295).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 102,147 (general population - 98,148 and CAPF personnel - 3,999).Number of recovered cases is 91,847 (general population - 87,896 and CAPF personnel - 3,951).The recovery rate is 89.91 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1665 D-type and 293 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Only 12,490 vaccine doses were administered on Wednesday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,30,261.However, the number of fully vaccinated individuals is 2,29,766.Meanwhile, 36 new cases were detected out of 162 samples tested from Wednesday 2 pm to Thursday 2 pm in Kakching district.
Two were detected at Jivan Hospital, four at Ema Hospital and 30 at different government RAT sites.
One of them is from Chandel district and the rest are residents of Kakching district, according to reports from DSO Kakching.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (34,144), Imphal East (22,906), Thoubal (8546), Churachandpur (8711), Kangpokpi (2439), Tamenglong 2858), Bishnupur (7598), Senapati (1862), Ukhrul (1776), Kakching (5712), Chandel (2001), Noney (850), Tengnoupal (975), Jiribam (963), Kamjong (596) and Pherzawl (210).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (547), Imphal East (381), Thoubal (148), Churachandpur (141), Kangpokpi (53), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (152), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (21 J, Kakching (97), Chandel (31), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (10), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4), and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data re leased by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated requests from media, Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 32,919 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,810 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,58,639 tests per million population against the national average of 3,40,476 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 5275 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 14.35 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.18 per cent.
