Covid shows no sign of respite with 757 cases, 8 deaths recorded

Imphal, August 05 2021:
Even as the total curfew which came into force from July 18 has been extended till August 7, the numbers continue to rise with no sign of abatement with August 5 reporting a total of 757 new cases including 4 Central security personnel.
With the addition of 757 more cases, the cumulative number of positive cases logged in the State has gone up to 102,147 including 3999 Central security personnel.
The 757 new cases were detected out of a total of 5275 samples tested in the last 24 hours to take the daily positivity rate to 14.4 percent, which is the same as August 4 .
Quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee, the COVID-19 Common Control Room said that the State reported 8 deaths due to the virus in the last 24 hours.
Out of the 8 persons who passed away, five had co-morbidities and only two of them had received the first dose of the vaccine.
The deceased belonged to Imphal West (2), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2) and Churachandpur (1) .
Of the 753 cases from amongst the civil population, women accounted for 399 cases.
The total 757 positive cases were detected at RIMS (71), JNIMS (42), District Hospitals (443) and other testing centres (201) .
The 753 positive cases from amongst the civil population are from Imphal East (230), Imphal West (277), Thoubal (58), Bishnupur (48), Kakching (30), Ukhrul (9), Churachandpur (62), Chandel (9), Senapati (10), Tamenglong (13), Tengnoupal (5) and Kangpokpi (2) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, claimed the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Altogether 1078 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (533), RIMS (23), JNIMS (17), CCCs (210) and CHICs (295) .
The cumulative number of recovered cases is 91,847 including 3951 Central security personnel and the number of active cases has now gone down to 8,686 including 43 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate is now 89.91 percent.
On August 4, 12,490 people received their vaccine shots taking the total number of vaccinated people to 13,600,27 including 2,29,766 people who have received their second shot.
In the last 24 hours a total of 1665 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 293 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
The number of Covid beds available at different health centres as on August 5, 2021 are Iland Hospital (General beds-15), MSF, Little Flower School (2 ICU beds and 2 general bed), CMC, Koirengei (General beds-29, ICU beds-4), Iboyaima Hospital (General beds-15), Jivan Hospital, Kakching (General beds-14, ICU beds-8), Shija Hospital (General beds-5, ICU beds-8), Raj Medicity (General beds-30, ICU beds-9) .
