NACO, MACS line up awareness activities

National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and Manipur State AIDS control Society (MACS) will carry out awareness campaign on HIV&AIDS, Tuberculosis and promotion of voluntary blood donation in phased manner at select government schools and colleges as part of the nationwide celebration of Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav to mark the 75th year of Indian Independence Day.
In a statement, MACS project director Haobam Rosita informed that NACO, under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare will be launching awareness campaigns by engaging youth from across the country involved in NACO's Adolescence Education Programme (AEP), Red Ribbon Clubs and Out of School Youth Programme.
To contribute to the development of New India@75, NACO and MACS will launch the awareness campaigns and through these awareness campaigns, activities will be organised by schools and Red Ribbon Clubs constituted in colleges.
There-are about 46 Red Ribbon Clubs and 20 youth clubs under Out of School Youth Programme formed across the state, it said.
Awareness campaigns for HIV&AIDS will be held on August 12 for Phase I, October 12 for Phase II and December 1 for Phase III.
For Tuberculosis, Phase I will be held on August 12, Phase II on October 12 and Phase III March 24, 2022.Voluntary Blood Donation promotion will be held on August 12 for Phase I, October 1 for Phase II and January 12, 2022 for Phase III, it informed.
The first phase of the campaign will be launched on the occasion of International Youth Day on August 12 in virtual mode with the attendance of union minister Mansukh Mandaviya as chief guest and minister of state for Health & Family Welfare Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar as guest of honour.
