Imphal, July 10 2022:
A Fellowship Certificate Course for family doctors under the aegis of College of General Practitioners (CGP), a unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA), commenced from Sunday.
The inauguration programme of the course held with IMA-CGP headquarters dean Dr Avinash Bhondwe as the chief guest, was organised by IMA Manipur State Branch and IMA-CGP Faculty Manipur at IMA hall, Lamphel.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Avinash pointed out that one never stops learning in the medical profession.
While stating that family doctors are those whose responsibility includes local surgery and it is not compulsory for family doctors to be specialised in any specific disease, he also explained that addition to treating several types of ailments, they can prescribe medicines and do surgery.
As long as there are adequate numbers of family doctors, there will be progress in the health care sector, he said.
IMA-CGP Headquarters ex-dean Dr Hiranmay Adhikar and IMA Manipur State Branch president Dr S Jugindro also attended the inaugural function.
