Imphal, July 21 2021:
Manipur joined rest of the world in celebration of Muslim community's sacred sacrificing festival of Eid-Ul-Adha on Thursday.
However, celebration in the state was limited to religious rituals only owing to the prevailing second wave of COVID-19 pandemic and no mass gatherings were witnessed.
Unlike the past, Eid-Ul-Adha celebrations in Masjids of the state this year were limited to few Moulvi and key functionaries while no social gathering for the festival was witnessed at all.
Visiting relatives and inviting friends for the festival were also very limited but some wealthy sections were seen distributing meat to poor families after offering morning Namaz and neighbours were seen exchanging special dishes.
Collection of donations by young children were not seen this year unlike the past while police could be spotted patrolling at important locations to prevent mass gathering and ensure adherence to SOPs.
People were seen observing SOPs strictly during Eid-Ul Adha celebration.
