Seized fertilizers sold to farmers at Govt rate

Thoubal, July 21 2021:
Acting on the advice of Thoubal District Magistrate, District Agriculture Officer made fertilisers, which were seized from shops at Samaran Lamkhai by Khongjom police on July 21 for selling at higher rates, available to farmers of Thoubal at subsidized rate on Wednesday.
The fertilisers were put on sale at Khongjom Police Station and District Agriculture Office at the government-fixed rate.
Speaking to media persons, District Agriculture Officer N Joykumar informed that five bags of Diamond, 24 MOP (Potash) and 20 Single Super Phosphate (SSP) seized by Khongjom police under Essential Commodities Act 1955 were made available to farmers of Thoubal at Maximum Retail Price (MRP) under the directives of District Magistrate, Thoubal.
The sale proceeds from the fertilisers would be handed over to the shop owners through Khongjom Police OC.
Appealing to authorised fertilisers dealers not to sell the essential agricultural supplements above MRP, Joykumar also cautioned of initiating legal actions in case of unethical trade practices.
He further urged the farmers to contact the office if the government-controlled urea and as fertilisers not under the government's ambit are sold at higher rates.
The cost of the fertilisers made available to the farmers was at Rs 1,200 per bag of Diamond, Rs 800 per bag of MOP and Rs 362 per bag of SSO.
