'Six Congress MLAs ready to join BJP'

Chief minister N Biren reportedly told a group of ruling MLAs, who are on the verge of getting disqualified, that six more Congress MLAs are expected to join BJP soon.
According to a reliable source, the CM made the remark during a meeting of six MLAs, who are respondents in the disqualification case pending in the Supreme Court for holding the post of parliamentary secretary.
The meeting at the CM's secretariat Wednesday was held in view of the possible political instability that might follow the SC ruling on the disqualification case and discussed the possible outcomes of the disqualification case, for which the apex court is expected to pronounce its verdict on July 26, along with issues related with Covid-19 .
Though the CM reportedly mentioned that six Congress MLAs are expected to join the party, he did not revealed their identities, the source said.
Regarding the outcome of the case, the CM reportedly told the MLAs not to think too much about the SC ruling since the matter is in the jurisdiction of the law court.
He also told them that the government will see what could be done after the SC gives its verdict.
The meeting also reportedly discussed the mechanism to verify genuine beneficiaries of the livelihood support scheme announced by the CM under which a financial assistance of Rs 5000 per family head will be provided to those who have lost their livelihood means due to Covid-19 .
The scheme has a target of covering 2 lakh beneficiaries.
The CM also asked the MLAs for their proactive support and involvement in taking up developmental projects in the state, the source added.
