Gaikhangam exhorts Nungba denizens to get vaccinated

An intensified mass Covid-19 vaccination drive cum advocacy programme was organised by COVID Awareness cum Enforcement Committee, Nungba Assembly Constituency on Wednesday at Thangal village in Noney district.
The advocacy programme was held with RRT WHO consultant of Noney district Dr Pinky Sarangthem as the resource person Nungba MLA Gaikhangam as the chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Gaikhangam, who is also chairman of the Nungba Covid Committee, stressed the need for every eligible person in Nungba constituency to come forward for vaccination without any hesitation.
"Let's live together happily with good health and defeat the spread of this infection from our land," he exhorted the gathering and at the same time remarked that there is no valid reason to succumb to the infectious together due to one's own negligence.
He also appealed to the people not to believe in rumours against vaccination.
The former deputy chief minister also handed over face masks, hand sanitizers, sodium hypochlorite to the Committee members for further distribution of the same to the surrounding villages.
Around 100 people from Thangal area were vaccinated during the event.
Meanwhile, amid the state-wide curfew being imposed to contain the pandemic, vaccination drive is being held smoothly in Noney district at all health centres and outreach vaccination sites.
According to senior medical officer of Noney PHC Dr Bikramjit, COVID vaccination drives are underway in every health institution of the district alongside mass vaccination programme in the interior areas of the district in order to vaccinate everyone and keep them safe and free from Covid-19.Altogether, 75 people were vaccinated for both 1st & 2nd doses at Noney PHC COVID vaccination centre on Wednesday, the fourth day of the curfew.
