Imphal, December 17 2017:
A team of Manipur police launched cordon and search operation at Haraothel (L Tangnuam village) under Kangpokpi police station today early morning and recovered four single barrel firearms .
The operation was conducted by a joint team of Kangpokpi district police, Imphal West district police, 10 teams of Imphal East commando, 10 teams of Thoubal police commando and 8 teams of Bishnupur police commando, under the joint command of Additional SP (Ops) Imphal West N Modhunimai and Additional SP Kangpokpi T Lalboi Haokip, led by Deputy SP (Ops) Imphal West, Thangkhochon Haokip .
During the search operation, villagers (from age 14 to 60 years) were called out from their respective homes and verified by the joint police team.
The villagers were also made to verify some of those who were not able to produce proper identity proofs .
Six non locals who were also present in the village were identified by the police .
Three of the non locals were found to be engaged construction workers and the remaining three were found to be excavator operatos from Senapati .
Although no one was detained by the police during the search operation, four single barrel guns were recovered and taken into police custody.
It may be mentioned that the cordon and search operation was carried out after a confrontation took place between two villages yesterday during which one person suffered bullet injury.
