Minister distributes septic tanks

Imphal, July 06 2018:
Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar distributed septic tanks to seven houses (which does not have sanitary latrines) of ward no 9 under Imphal Municipal Council today.
The Minister accompanied by IMC, ward no 9 Councillor Soram Sunil visited seven houses and handed over a septic tank each to them.
The Minister also assured to extend similar aid to other families of other wards under Keishamthong AC.
Speaking to media persons, L Jayantakumar stated that there are several underprivileged and deprived families in Keishamthong Assembly Constituency, although it is located at the centre of the capital.
He stated that the location of the- constituency, being a barrier, has deprived them of many developmental and welfare schemes of the Government.
The Minister pointed out that there are many houses which face lack of basic facilities like sanitary latrines, drinking water, dilapidated houses and the people are also daily wage earners.
The distribution of sanitary latrines was carried out after the Councillor conducted a thorough study of such families/ houses, he added.
Septic tanks which is made of polythene costs Rs 15,000 per piece and it can be utilised by 5 to 10 individuals of a household.
Jayantakumar further assured that works related to installation of the septic tanks will also be carried out after discussing with the Councillor.
