Imphal, June 29 2021:
Federation of Government College Teachers' Association (FEGOCTA) has reiterated that it will go ahead with boycott of online classes and examinations from July 1 if the government fails to issue relevant orders for implementation of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 by June 30 .
In a release, FEGOCTA informed that an emergency general body meeting was held virtually wherein it was resolved to boycott conduct of online classes and examinations from July 1 .
The order for implementation of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 should be as per the MoU signed between the Government and FEGOCTA on March 6, the release asserted, while adding that on June 21 a reminder letter was also submitted to the education minister, chief secretary, etc., for issuing the required order by June 30 .
The meeting further resolved that the higher education department headed by the education minister should take the sole responsibility in case of disturbance to the ongoing online classes and examinations from July 1 .
The order should be issued within June 30 as 7th UGC Pay cash payment is to be given from July, the release added.
Condemning the failure of the state government to implement the national policy of UGC which has been effective since November 2, 2017, the release lamented that the genuine demand of the college teachers is being neglected even after the series of democratic agitation by the FEGOCTA and the Cabinet's multiple approvals to its demand.
