ATSUM exerts pressures on Govt

Imphal, June 10 2013:
As part of the ongoing sustained agitation for 38 days under the code name (ROTO) Reckoning of the others, all construction works of NF Railway between Tupul and Jiribam have stopped completely since the midnight of June 7, according to a statement issued by All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM), which has been launching an agitation in pursuance of its charter of demands submitted to the State Government.
The charter of demands of ATSUM include appointment of adequate teaching and non teaching staffs in the hill areas, development of infrastructures of schools in the hill areas, setting up of B Ed colleges in the hills, to make all the health centres in the hills functional along with providing proper equipments and manpower, reservation of ST Quota for different grades of posts in JNIMS, setting up of a separate State Commission for ST Under article 338- A of the Constitution of India, adherence to ST reservation norms as per the latest roster, effective governance of the hills along with ensuring proper functioning of Hill Area Committee, unbiased promotion in Government services i.e.both centres and Civil Services (IAS/MCS/IPS/MPS/Jr.
MCS & in all other grades, ensuring tribal rights on land and natural resources, reinstating Additional English in lieu of MIL for un-recognised Tribes in the new scheme of study in class-IX and appointment of Tribal Women as Chairperson of Manipur Women Commission.
