Veterinary scheme launched

Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services, Manipur (V&AHSM) in association with Free Animal Health Campaign today launched the Establishment of Mini Angora Rabbit Farm scheme at Veterinary complex, Sanjenthong today.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Minister K Govindas and V&AHSM Director Dr Saidoakhum Joute graced the function as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
Fifteen rabbits, three bags of rabbit feed and Rs 10,000 each were handed over to four beneficiaries of Churachandpur and six beneficiaries of Bishnupur district at the function.
Speaking at the occasion, Gaikhangam said that the State Government would put in necessary efforts to develop V&AHSM by earmarking more fund in the budget and recruiting more staff.
Saying that many diseases are transmitted from animals to human, Gaikhangam asked the farmers to maintain cleanliness in their farms and remain alert for any animal disease.
K Govindas said that the establishment of Angora rabbit farming scheme has been put into effect for the first time in the State.
He said that necessary items and monetary assistance would be distributed to the beneficiaries of other districts as well.
He urged the beneficiaries to make the scheme a success and detect animal diseases on time.
